Patchwork
The band Patchwork will provide the music, presenting their own songs
and helping us to sing together songs of the WYD song-book and those from the Salesian world.
The name "patchwork" symbolizes the musical variety of this band.
Their program varies like the life itself and tells in a language understandable by everybody.
Text and music are equally important und only together permit,
that the hearers like to plunge into changes between joy, irony and dismay, and feel in concord.
For this the Patchworkers find an important source in their Christianity.
Good News und good music, thrilling, without halo or raised index finger.
(More about this band you can find in German on their
Homepage)

Youth culture festival
Groups of young people from the whole world have announced their coming.
We expect groups from Canada, Central America and Brazil, from Egypt and Swaziland,
from West and East Africa, from India, Taiwan and Kambodscha, who want to present
their contributions in the youth culture festival.
In addition, young people from many European countries will be present.
Special guests
We are glad to hear that the Generalates of FMA and SDB in Rome will send representatives
to our gathering. Other groups of the Salesian Family will be represented, and last but not least
there will be some Salesian bishops who come to Cologne for the catechesis in various churches.
Bal International
We expect a large number of young people of different language at our gathering.
The youth culture festival (see above) will give an image of their variety.
To make them move together - that's our idea for "Bal International".
Nadja Raszewski
from Berlin, dancer and choreographer, will help us to do so, with modern rhythms, fun and humor.
Let you surprise!
Via Lucis
To follow spiritually the way of the risen Jesus Christ - that's what we want to do in a
moment of prayer. In three stations we meditate pictures of a "Via Lucis" cycle painted by
the artist Michael Blum
for this celebration. Comments of these pictures, written by young people and presented
in various languages, will help us to meditate the pictures and their biblical background.
Another help will be the music of "Patchwork".
Snacks
Those who get hungry or thirsty by the Bal International (or are it before)
will find water, beverage and snacks in our snack bars (at prices which are appropriate for
the small purses of young people).
